Anderlecht targets €7m Adam Karabec as next big signing

🇧🇪

Sporting d'Anderlecht, led by director Antoine Sibierski, is targeting 22‑year‑old Czech midfielder Adam Karabec, valued at €7 million, as the club looks to close the gap on Club Brugge and Union Saint‑Gilloise ahead of the new season. The Brussels side also confirmed the signing of French defender Giulian Biancone from Olympiakos.

Anderlecht remains without a permanent head coach as preseason preparations begin in the coming days. The club continues to search for additional reinforcements to strengthen the squad.

Karabec, born in Prague, has earned five caps for the Czech Republic but was not selected for the World Cup. He spent the current campaign on loan from Sparta Prague at Olympique Lyonnais, making 34 appearances across all competitions.

During his loan spell, Karabec logged only 1,549 minutes, averaging 45 minutes per match. Olympique Lyonnais, known as the Gones, chose not to activate the purchase option.

Returning to Sparta Prague, Karabec is unlikely to be retained and is seeking a new challenge. Anderlecht would need to satisfy Sparta’s demands, with Transfermarkt estimating the midfielder’s price at €7 million.

Union Saint‑Gilloise, another Brussels club, has already secured the services of striker Ondřej Kričfaluš from Baník for €5 million. This move underscores the capital’s interest in the Czech league.

By adding Karabec, Anderlecht hopes to narrow the points gap with Club Brugge and Union Saint‑Gilloise, after a comparatively quiet start to the summer transfer window.
