Hansi Flick Extends Barcelona Deal Ahead of Champions Quest
Hansi Flick will begin his third campaign as head coach of FC Barcelona. He signed a contract extension on 18 May that pushes the expiry from 2027 to 30 June 2028, with an optional year to 2029.
Flick has publicly declared that Barcelona will be the final stop of his managerial career. The extension makes him one of the longest‑serving coaches in the position.
The upcoming season marks Flick’s third attempt to win the Champions League with Barcelona. He joins a small group of managers who enter the competition with an already established project.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid will each introduce a new manager during the summer. All three clubs have been regular participants in recent Champions League finals.
