Simon Mignolet Bids Farewell, Meets Rudi Garcia
Simon Mignolet said goodbye to professional football on Sunday, tears in his eyes. The following day he sat down for a work interview with Belgium national coach Rudi Garcia.
Mignolet is 38 years old and played as a goalkeeper. He announced his retirement from professional football.
He will move back to Limburg with his family in August. The move follows his retirement.
His son Lex already has a new football team. Mignolet joked that he can now enjoy a glass of wine at Lex’s spring festival.
He added that they will also “leak some cream” at the event. The interview marked his final public remarks as a professional player.
