Javier Tebas praises Enrique Riquelme's 35% vote in Real Madrid election

🇪🇸
La Liga president Javier Tebas said the challenger Enrique Riquelme captured 35% of the votes in Real Madrid's presidential election. Tebas described the result as “not bad at all” despite Florentino Perez’s clear victory. Tebas noted that Riquelme, a newcomer with a Mexican accent, had only 15 days to campaign. He suggested that a Spanish accent and a 40‑day campaign could have yielded an even higher vote share. Tebas warned that any president should reconsider their calculations when 35% of the club adopts a differing opinion. He added that the election revealed a shift in the internal philosophy of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona within 20 to 25 days. When asked about Jose Mourinho’s possible return to La Liga, Tebas called the prospect exciting. He said he enjoys a league that features Mourinho and Guardiola because it adds interaction and fun.
