Lachlan Rose signs two-year deal with Dundee United
Australian forward Lachlan Rose has joined Scottish side Dundee United on a two‑year contract, describing his hard‑working style as a perfect match for the club’s values and the city’s character. The 27‑year‑old arrives after a season with Newcastle United Jets that ended with a play‑off semi‑final defeat.
Rose agreed the two‑year deal with Dundee United while Newcastle United Jets were sitting atop the A‑League table. The Australian forward said the timing suited his desire to finish his Australian stint on a high note before heading to Scotland.
Jets had led the A‑League by five points over Adelaide United before the finals. Despite that advantage, they were eliminated in the semi‑finals by Sydney after a penalty shoot‑out.
During the 2023‑24 season Rose recorded eight goals and one assist across 26 appearances, his most productive campaign to date. He described the squad’s atmosphere as a “family” where players felt like brothers.
Rose praised the Jets for their supportive environment, noting that teammates were excited for his overseas move. He added that the club’s encouragement helped him transition to a new challenge. Rose said his hard‑working style aligns perfectly with the values of Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin and the city.
Speaking to Dundee United’s YouTube channel, Rose said, “I’m super stoked to be here at this wonderful club.” He added, “It’s a beautiful city so it was a no‑brainer to join this club when the opportunity arose, and my hard‑working nature mirrors the city and its people.”
He looks forward to beginning the Scottish season with Dundee United and contributing his hard‑working approach to the squad.
