Konaté to leave Liverpool at season end
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté will depart the club when his contract expires in June. Contract talks between Konaté and Liverpool broke down, ending any possibility of a new agreement.
Konaté, 26, joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021. He made 136 appearances across all competitions during his three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield.
The French defender was integral to Liverpool’s Premier League title defense this season. He featured in 28 league matches, helping the Reds secure a top-four finish.
Liverpool now face a defensive reshuffle with Konaté’s exit. Jürgen Klopp’s side will enter the summer transfer window needing defensive reinforcements.
Konaté is set to become a free agent on July 1. His next club remains undecided as of now.
