Manchester United Target Tottenham's Cristian Romero This Summer

🇬🇧

Manchester United are the main contenders to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero this summer, according to a recent report. The club has identified the Argentine defender as a priority target for the upcoming transfer window.

Romero, 28, struggled to perform consistently for Spurs in the Premier League but produced a few impressive defensive displays. He recorded six goals and four assists in 32 matches across all competitions last season.

His contract with Tottenham Hotspur runs until the summer of 2029. United would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him this window.

Romero is described as a good tackler who times challenges well, willing to clear the ball when needed and a tidy passer. Standing 1.85 m, the Italian sensation can win 50‑50 aerial duels with his strong frame.

United boss Michael Carrick could add more bite and steel to his defence with Romero, who is expected to compete for a regular starting spot at the Theatre of Dreams next season. At 28, Romero is said to have his peak years ahead, making him a worthy target for the Red Devils.

George Wood photographed Romero watching the Sunderland‑Tottenham Premier League match on 12 April 2026 at the Stadium of Light. Carrick would be wise to move for Romero before the transfer window closes.
