Nuno Espírito Santo stays as West Ham manager
West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo will remain in charge despite relegation from the Premier League.
The decision follows an internal review of the season’s underperformance. Club owner David Sullivan’s partner, Angela Beevers, had publicly called for a restructure after relegation was confirmed.
Espírito Santo, appointed in December 2021, guided West Ham to the Europa Conference League final in 2023. The club finished 14th in the 2023–24 Premier League, seven points clear of the drop zone.
Angela Beevers, a non-executive director, argued for a leadership reset. Her stance gained traction among supporters after West Ham’s final-day defeat to Manchester City.
A club statement confirmed Espírito Santo’s continued role without detailing contract terms. The announcement was made hours before the Premier League’s official relegation confirmation.
Espírito Santo will now prepare for West Ham’s Championship campaign with an unchanged technical staff.
