Pochettino Names US World Cup Squad with Pepi, Dest
United States coach Mauricio Pochettino announced his 2026 World Cup squad, including PSV forwards Ricardo Pepi and Sergiño Dest. Former PSV midfielder Malik Tillman, now with Bayer Leverkusen, also earned a call‑up.
The squad’s marquee player is Christian Pulisic of AC Milan, who lifted the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021. Pulisic will lead the attack alongside Pepi and Folarin Balogun of AS Monaco.
Goalkeepers Matt Freese (New York City FC), Matt Turner (New England Revolution) and Chris Brady (Chicago Fire) complete the net‑minding trio. Defenders include Chris Richards of Crystal Palace, Tim Ream of Charlotte FC and Mark McKenzie of Toulouse. Other back‑line options are Auston Trusty (Celtic), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati) and Sergiño Dest (PSV).
Midfield selections feature Tyler Adams of Bournemouth, Weston McKennie of Juventus and Cristian Roldan of Seattle Sounders. Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen), Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Timothy Weah (Olympique Marseille) round out the central pool.
Forwards also include Folarin Balogun of AS Monaco, Haji Wright of Coventry City and Alejandro Zendejas of Club América. Leeds United’s Brenden Aaronson and Vancouver Whitecaps’ Sebastian Berhalter add depth on the wing.
The United States open Group A against Paraguay before meeting Australia and Turkey. The last World Cup appearance in Qatar ended with a 3‑1 knockout loss to the Netherlands.
