Jurriën Timber Joins Dutch World Cup Squad Thursday

Jurriën Timber will join the Netherlands national team on Thursday. The Arsenal FC defender, fresh from a groin injury, missed the first preparatory friendly. The Dutch squad assembled in Zeist today for the first time since the tournament draw. They are targeting a warm‑up match against Algeria in Rotterdam on Wednesday, described as the farewell game. The following day the group departs for a training camp in New York. They will face Uzbekistan in a friendly on 8 June. Coach Ronald Koeman and the players travel to Kansas City on 9 June for World Cup group‑stage preparations. The World Cup opens on 14 June with the Netherlands playing Japan in Dallas. Timber returned from his injury in the Champions League final, entering after the break for Arsenal FC. Arsenal FC lost the final to Paris Saint‑Germain and celebrated their Premier League title with a parade through London on Sunday.
