Utrecht edge closer to Aslani deal as Danish midfielder undergoes medical
FC Utrecht are on the brink of signing Abdullah Aslani after the Danish midfielder began a medical examination today. The 19-year-old is set to join Utrecht’s under-23 squad if the assessment is successful.
Aslani, who holds North Macedonian heritage, is moving on a free transfer as his contract with Lyngby Boldklub expires on Tuesday. The move would see him commit to a minimum two-year deal in Utrecht.
At Lyngby, Aslani captained the Under-19 side and featured regularly in the Danish youth competitions. His preferred position is defensive midfielder, though he can also play as a centre-back. The 1.86m tall midfielder has represented North Macedonia at youth international level.
The Danish publication Tipsbladet first reported the ongoing medical, confirming Utrecht’s interest in the 19-year-old. Aslani’s contract situation at Lyngby means he will leave the club without compensation once his deal expires.
If the medical clears, Utrecht will finalise the signing before his Lyngby contract lapses.
