PSV Eindhoven Records Fewest Shirt Sponsorships
PSV Eindhoven has had only three shirt sponsors since Dutch league permitted sponsorship in 1982. Philips was the first sponsor, covering the period from 1982 to 2016. EnergieDirect succeeded Philips from 2016 to 2019, and Brainport Eindhoven has been the sponsor from 2019 onward.
Arsenal’s shirts have displayed four sponsors, the highest count among clubs with few logos. The sponsors were JVC, Dreamcast/Sega, O2 and Emirates.
Barcelona avoided shirt sponsorship for many years. Despite that avoidance, the club has featured more than four sponsors.
PSV’s low sponsor count contrasts with its role supplying Barcelona with Romário and Ronaldo in the 1990s. PSV supplied Barcelona with the talents of Romário and Ronaldo during the 1990s.
Brainport Eindhoven’s ongoing partnership suggests PSV’s sponsor count will stay at three. No additional shirt sponsors have been announced since 2019.
