Aurelien Guernier signs three-year deal with AC Milan
Aurelien Guernier, 18, has agreed a three-year contract to join AC Milan's B team this summer, leaving Birmingham after being named in the squad for their 1‑0 Championship win over QPR in March. He turned down new terms offered by the Blues, who had hoped he would develop at St Andrew's.
The contract runs for three seasons, binding Guernier to AC Milan. He will be based at the club's San Siro stadium.
Birmingham offered new terms to retain the midfielder. Despite the proposal, Guernier elected to depart.
The Blues had intended for him to continue his development at St Andrew's. They acknowledged his right to discuss options with other clubs.
Guernier was named in the matchday squad for Birmingham's 1‑0 Championship victory over QPR in March. He remained an unused substitute and did not make his first‑team debut.
Clubs from across Europe and the Premier League also monitored his progress. Ultimately, Guernier chose to join AC Milan's B team to further his career.
His move mirrors the path of England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and his brother Jobe, who both moved to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham. Both left Birmingham for a European giant.
