Barcelona scouts 18-year-old Australian defender Lucas Herrington

Barcelona are monitoring 18-year-old Australian centre-back Lucas Herrington of Colorado Rapids. The Catalan club’s youth scouting department has not yet made a formal approach. Herrington stands 1.93 m tall and combines physical presence with technical ability. Scouts have highlighted his composure in possession, aerial dominance and comfort playing out from the back. Herrington progressed through Brisbane Roar’s academy before joining Colorado Rapids in 2025. The MLS side signed him on a contract running to 2029 with an optional extra year. In his debut MLS season he became a regular starter, playing every available league minute before the season paused for the 2026 World Cup. His performances earned him a place in Australia’s World Cup squad. Barcelona’s interest remains at the scouting stage, but strong showings at the World Cup could prompt a formal recruitment move.
