Barcelona weigh €30m Marcus Rashford deal
Barcelona have a clause worth around €30 million to make Marcus Rashford's loan from Manchester United permanent before the 15th of this month. The loan runs until the end of June.
Rashford logged 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions last season. His speed, directness and ability to play on the left wing or through the middle match Hansi Flick's desire for verticality. His Champions League experience adds further value and he can provide a bench option that can change a game instantly.
Barcelona's priority this summer is signing a successor to Robert Lewandowski. Anthony Gordon, already signed, occupies similar spaces to Rashford and fits Hansi Flick's style better. At €30 million, Rashford is not absurdly expensive but his wages are expected to be high, and Raphinha, Lamine and Ferran Torres already provide depth in attack.
Rashford is said to prefer a move to Barcelona and has turned a deaf ear to other offers. He would need to accept a reduced wage structure and a peripheral role for the deal to proceed.
Barcelona must decide whether to invest in Rashford or allocate funds elsewhere. The club needs clarity rather than sentiment as it seeks a new No. 9.
