Auxerre's Survival Secures €5 Million Transfer Fee for FC Porto
Auxerre's continued presence in Ligue 1 will trigger a €5 million payment to FC Porto. The payment is linked to the permanent transfer of midfielder Namaso to the French club.
Namaso, previously on loan at Auxerre, will now join the club on a permanent basis. The agreement makes him a full‑time player for Auxerre.
The transfer clause stipulates that FC Porto receives the €5 million only if Auxerre remains in the top division. The condition has been met following the club's confirmation of its Ligue 1 status.
The €5 million fee represents a significant financial boost for FC Porto, adding to the club’s revenue from player sales. The amount will be recorded in the club’s accounts once the condition is satisfied.
For Auxerre, securing Namaso’s services permanently strengthens their squad ahead of the new season. The French side expects the midfielder to contribute to their campaign in Ligue 1.
The deal reflects the growing collaboration between Portuguese and French clubs in the transfer market. Both parties benefit: Porto receives a guaranteed sum, while Auxerre secures a player they value.
Namaso is set to report to Auxerre for preseason training, where he will integrate with the squad. The upcoming season will test whether the financial clause and sporting expectations are fulfilled.
