Rivère Criticises Lorenzi After Nice Secures Ligue 1 Survival
OGC Nice clinched Ligue 1 survival on Friday by winning the promotion/relegation play-off against AS Saint-Étienne. Jean-Pierre Rivère used the post‑match platform to address a contract dispute involving Grégory Lorenzi.
The play‑off victory secured Nice's place in the top division for the upcoming season. AS Saint-Étienne remained in Ligue 2 after the defeat.
Rivère claimed that Lorenzi had signed a contract with Nice before electing to join Olympique de Marseille. He said the agreement was signed prior to Lorenzi's appointment as Marseille's sporting director.
Olympique de Marseille subsequently appointed Lorenzi as sporting director. Rivère described the situation as an "imbroglio" that required clarification.
Rivère indicated that Nice will now concentrate on preparations for next season. The club's leadership expects to avoid similar contractual ambiguities in the future.
