Semi-Automatic Offside Detection to Debut in Coupe de France Final
The semi-automatic offside detection system will be deployed for the first time in France during the Coupe de France final between Lens and Nice on Friday 22 May at the Stade de France.
The technology is a semi-automatic detection tool designed to assist referees in identifying off‑side positions more quickly and accurately.
Its introduction marks the inaugural use of such a system in a French competition, signalling a step towards modernising officiating standards.
The final will take place at the Stade de France, the national stadium in Paris, on 22 May.
The match will feature Lens and Nice, two French clubs, competing for the Coupe de France trophy.
Officials expect the new system to influence future adoption of similar technology across French football.
