Danny Rohl departs Rangers for RB Salzburg, leaves club stronger

🇬🇧 2 dagen geleden

Danny Rohl, the 37‑year‑old German, leaves Rangers to become head coach of RB Salzburg after eight months in charge. He says his departure puts Rangers in a stronger position as he moves on to a new chapter.

Rohl took over Rangers following a disappointing start under Russell Martin and managed to bring the Ibrox side back into the title race. His eight‑month tenure saw the club revive its challenge before the season’s final run.

Rangers lost four of their final five games and ultimately finished third behind Celtic and Hearts. The late‑season dip ended their title hopes despite the earlier resurgence.

Rohl cut short a two‑and‑a‑half‑year contract with Rangers to sign a three‑year deal with RB Salzburg, the Austrian Bundesliga club that also finished third in its league. The move marks his first appointment in Austria.

He posted on Instagram to thank everyone connected with Rangers, writing: "As I move on to a new chapter, I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone connected with Rangers. It's been an incredible honour to be part of this amazing club." The message underscored his appreciation for the supporters, players and staff.

Rohl also thanked chairman Andrew Cavenagh and said he is proud of the work done together over the past year. He added that while there is always more to achieve, the club is well placed for what lies ahead.

In his final statement, Rohl affirmed that Rangers are now in a stronger position and ready for future challenges. He expressed confidence that the foundation he helped build will benefit the club going forward.
