Derby County negotiate £5‑6m return for Bobby Clark

🇬🇧 1 uur geleden

Derby County are in advanced talks to re-sign midfielder Bobby Clark from Red Bull Salzburg. The reported fee lies between £5 million and £6 million.

Clark previously made six Premier League appearances for Liverpool. He spent the 2023‑24 Championship season on loan at Derby County, quickly becoming a fan favourite. He finished the campaign with the club’s young player of the season award.

John Eustace praised Clark’s ability to execute the gameplan in multiple positions. Clark arrived on loan last summer and was initially expected to struggle with the Championship’s physical demands. His breakthrough came in the 2‑2 draw at Ipswich Town. An injury crisis shifted him from attacking midfield to a deeper role alongside David Ozoh and Lewis Travis, a position where he delivered his best performances. Both Eustace and Clark credit that positional change as a pivotal moment in his development.

At 21, Clark is described as a good value for the £5‑6 million fee. The deal aligns with Derby County’s “win now” mentality and long‑term asset strategy. The club moved quickly, learning from last season’s slow start that cost a play‑off place.

Clark told reporters at the end‑of‑season awards at Pride Park that he wants to return and finish the job he started. His expressed enthusiasm suggests a strong desire to rejoin Derby County.
