Morgan Rogers named Europa League Player of the Season
UEFA announced on Thursday that Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers has been named the Europa League Player of the Season. The award follows his decisive third goal in the 3-0 final win over Freiburg.
The final, played on Wednesday, ended with Aston Villa defeating German side Freiburg by three goals to nil. Rogers' strike in the 73rd minute secured the victory and clinched the trophy.
Rogers featured prominently throughout Villa’s campaign, contributing with key passes and goals. His performance in the final cemented his status as the tournament’s standout player.
Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi of Freiburg was recognised as the Europa League Revelation Player. The award acknowledges his breakthrough impact during the competition.
The accolades underline the contributions of both clubs in the tournament. Aston Villa lifted the Europa League trophy under the guidance of manager Unai Emery.
The triumph represents the fifth Europa League title in Emery’s managerial record. All five victories have been achieved since he took charge of Aston Villa.
