Everton Pursues West Ham Right-Back Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Everton are reported to be the most advanced club in the race for West Ham United right-back Aaron Wan‑Bissaka. West Ham value the 28‑year‑old defender at £15‑20 million, though a lower fee is possible. Newcastle United and Tottenham have also expressed interest, creating competition for his signature.
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Wan‑Bissaka ranks high on Everton’s target list after the departure of Seamus Coleman. Wan‑Bissaka joined West Ham from Manchester United in 2024 and remained a regular throughout the season that ended with the club’s relegation to the Championship. His experience in the Premier League makes him a reliable defensive option for Everton.
Everton have also revived interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, a 23‑year‑old who has been on David Moyes’ radar for some time. Everton have opened talks with Middlesbrough, but the club’s valuation is described as a hard‑line stance, leaving Everton far from an agreement. Hackney prefers a move to Everton over interest from Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Tottenham.
Everton finished 13th in the 2025/26 campaign after a late collapse, prompting a need for defensive solidity. Centre‑back Jake O’Brien spent large portions of last season covering the right‑back role, highlighting squad thinness in that position. The club’s recent era under Farhad Moshiri is referenced as a period from which the team seeks to recover.
David Moyes, who knows the Premier League intimately, will assess whether a £15‑20 million fee for Wan‑Bissaka is justified given West Ham’s financial pressure. If Everton can negotiate a price nearer £10 million, the signing would rank among the club’s most prudent business moves in years. A photo by Julian Finney captured Wan‑Bissaka taking a throw‑in in a Premier League match against Sunderland at the London Stadium on 24 January 2026.
