Florentino Pérez Re‑elected, Mourinho Set to Return
Florentino Pérez has been re‑elected as president of Real Madrid. José Mourinho will be unveiled as the new head coach at the Santiago Bernabéu in the coming hours.
Pérez secured 65 % of the members’ votes, defeating challenger Enrique Riquelme in the ballot box. The result gives Pérez full control of the Madrid club for the next term.
Riquelme accepted the defeat and said he was satisfied to have contributed to a democratic vote. He added that his long‑term project is only beginning.
Luis de la Fuente indicated that Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are likely to feature for Spain’s World Cup opener against Cape Verde, despite minor issues. Both wingers are expected to receive minutes in the match.
Christian Eriksen collapsed during the Denmark‑Ukraine friendly and was taken to hospital, where he remains conscious. The incident led to the match being abandoned.
