Mike Galloway, former Celtic and Hearts star, dies at 60
Former Celtic and Hearts midfielder Mike Galloway has died aged 60. His death was reported following a career that spanned several Scottish clubs.
Galloway began his senior career at Celtic before moving on to other teams. He also earned caps for Scotland during his playing days.
In 1987 he transferred from Halifax Town to Heart of Midlothian for a fee of £60,000. The move marked his entry into top‑flight Scottish football.
Over his spell at Tynecastle he made 86 appearances and scored 22 goals. His contributions were noted both in defence and midfield.
Galloway was comfortable playing either at the back or in midfield. His versatility helped the team across multiple positions.
He was part of the Hearts side that finished as league runners‑up in the 1987‑88 season. That campaign remains one of the club’s notable achievements of the era.
