Juventus maintains healthy transfer budget despite Champions League absence
Juventus will enter the summer transfer window with a healthy budget despite not qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League. The club confirmed financial improvements during its annual financial report presentation.
The Bianconeri avoided a potential transfer embargo by securing a positive financial outlook. Juventus reported a €10.5 million net profit for the 2023-24 season, reversing a €124.6 million loss the previous year. Revenue increased by €130 million to €433.3 million.
Cost-cutting measures played a key role in stabilizing finances. Wage expenses decreased by €81 million compared to the prior season. The club also reduced its net loss on player sales from €151.3 million to €54.3 million.
Squad restructuring contributed to the financial turnaround. Juventus sold several high-earning players, including Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot, while acquiring more cost-effective replacements. The club's transfer activity focused on loan deals with future purchase options.
Commercial revenue grew by 15% year-on-year, reaching €182.5 million. Sponsorship income rose by €30 million, while matchday revenue increased by €18 million. Broadcasting revenue remained stable at €204 million.
Juventus' ability to generate funds without Champions League football highlights improved financial management. The club's board emphasized compliance with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations. Debt levels decreased from €204.6 million to €167.9 million.
The positive financial trend aligns with Juventus' long-term restructuring plan. Club president Gianluca Ferrero stated that the budget allows for strategic transfers. He highlighted the importance of balancing sporting ambitions with financial sustainability.
Looking ahead, Juventus aims to strengthen the squad while maintaining financial prudence. The club's transfer strategy will prioritize loans with obligations to buy and sell-on clauses. These measures ensure flexibility while controlling long-term costs.
With a clear financial framework in place, Juventus can focus on rebuilding without immediate sporting pressures.
