Olympique de Marseille faces UEFA Europa League exclusion risk
Olympique de Marseille risks exclusion from the 2026-2027 UEFA Europa League due to breaching financial regulations. The club’s net losses violate the 2022 settlement agreement with UEFA.
The agreement, signed in 2022, mandates strict financial compliance for clubs participating in European competitions. Marseille’s reported multi-million euro losses fall outside permitted thresholds.
UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) will review the case in June. A decision could be announced before the end of the month.
If excluded, Marseille would lose their Europa League spot. The next highest-ranked team in Ligue 1 would qualify instead.
Club president Pablo Longoria confirmed financial restructuring efforts. He stated the club is working to align with UEFA’s requirements.
Longoria added that Marseille remains committed to European competition participation.
