LaLiga TV Rights Allocation Tied to Final Standings

🇪🇸 1 uur geleden
25% of LaLiga's television rights revenue is allocated according to the final league table. The allocation is decided on the season's last matchday, which also determines relegation and European qualification. The figure translates into millions of euros for clubs. The final round of fixtures therefore carries both sporting and financial consequences. Clubs fighting for survival or a Champions League spot also compete for a larger share of TV income. The distribution framework is defined by Royal Decree-Law 5/2015. The decree was passed unanimously by the Spanish Congress and sets the rules for splitting TV revenues. Under the decree, half of the total TV rights pool must be divided according to the prescribed formula. The remaining portion follows other criteria outlined in the law. The law’s split means that clubs finishing higher receive a proportionally larger cash flow from the broadcast deal. The exact amounts vary each season but the principle remains fixed. Analysts note that the mechanism can shift several million euros between clubs depending on their final position. This creates an additional incentive for teams to secure better league rankings. The upcoming season’s closing round will again trigger the distribution of the television share, reinforcing the link between sporting performance and financial reward.
