Khadija Shaw Scores Opening Goal as City Wins Double
Khadija Shaw scored the opening goal at Wembley, giving Manchester City a 4-0 win over Brighton and completing the Double with the Women’s FA Cup.
The final took place on Sunday.
Manchester City head coach Andrée Jeglertz said Shaw’s focus prevented speculation about her future from affecting her play.
He highlighted her prolific scoring form.
Shaw signed a four-year contract on Monday after previously being set to leave City in the summer.
The Jamaica striker’s contract extension was confirmed before the final.
In April, Shaw scored the winning goal in the Cup quarter‑final.
In May, she netted the decisive goal in the semi‑final against Chelsea.
The opening goal against Brighton came from a header off an Alex Greenwood cross.
The match ended with a clean sheet.
