Monaco part ways with Sébastien Pocognoli after eight months
Monaco announced on Monday that Sébastien Pocognoli has left his position as head coach. The departure comes less than eight months after he took charge.
The 38‑year‑old Belgian arrived in October from Union Saint‑Gilloise. He succeeded Adi Hütter when Monaco were fifth in Ligue 1.
Pocognoli recorded 16 victories in 38 league matches. His tenure covered the club’s run in domestic and European competitions.
Monaco finished the Ligue 1 season in seventh place. The club must now contest the Conference League access playoff to secure European football.
In the Coupe de France, Monaco were eliminated in the round of 16. Their cup run ended at the eighth‑final stage.
In the Champions League, Monaco lost to Paris Saint‑Germain in the playoff round. The defeat ended their European campaign.
