Premier League 2026-27 fixtures to be released Friday at 10:00 BST

🇬🇧 1 uur geleden

The Premier League fixtures for the 2026-27 season will be released on Friday at 10:00 BST. This marks an hour later than previous years' announcements. Both the start and end dates of the 2026-27 season have been adjusted due to World Cup 2026. The new campaign will begin on Saturday, 22 August, 2026, 34 days after the World Cup final in the United States. The Premier League season will conclude on Sunday, 30 May, 2027, with the Champions League final six days later.

There will be 33 rounds of weekend fixtures next term, with the remaining five taking place midweek. The Premier League stated the schedule will aim to "avoid domestic competition clashes with Uefa competition dates, wherever possible". During the Christmas and New Year period, no two rounds of matches will occur within 60 hours of each other, addressing congested scheduling concerns.

A significant scheduling change affects international breaks. Traditionally, September, October, and November each featured two-week breaks. From next season, September’s and October’s breaks will merge into one three-week break. This extended autumn break will run from the weekend of 19/20 September until 10/11 October. The longer break is confirmed to continue at least until the 2030-31 season.

Arsenal will enter the 2026-27 Premier League season as defending champions. The club secured the title in the previous campaign. The fixture release timing and structural changes reflect broader adjustments to accommodate the expanded World Cup 2026 schedule.
