Achraf Hakimi to Seek Dismissal in Versailles Court
Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi is set to appear before the Versailles Court of Appeal on Friday, 22 May. He will ask the court to issue a non‑lieu, effectively seeking dismissal of the rape allegations.
The hearing will be held in the instruction chamber of the Court of Appeal. The venue is located in Versailles, a suburb of Paris.
The accusations against Hakimi relate to an alleged rape that allegedly took place in February 2023. The case has remained pending for more than a year.
Hakimi currently plays for Paris Saint‑Germain, the French club that will face Arsenal in the Champions League final. The legal proceedings come at a sensitive time for the player and his club.
The Champions League final is scheduled for a week after the court date. PSG and Arsenal will meet in the competition’s marquee match.
If the court grants the non‑lieu, the criminal case would be closed without trial. The decision will be announced following the instruction chamber’s deliberations.
