Roma seeks UEFA renegotiation of FFP settlement terms

🇮🇹 4 uur geleden
AS Roma are in talks with UEFA to renegotiate the financial fair play settlement terms agreed in September 2022. The club faces a €50m funding deadline by the end of June 2026 to comply with the agreement. The settlement, imposed after a breach during the 2021-22 season, runs until 2026 and includes restrictions on player registrations and spending. Roma risk fines and potential bans from UEFA competitions from 2027-28 if they fail to meet the terms. Reports in Italy suggest players including Manu Kone, Evan Ndicka, and Mile Svilar could be sold to raise funds. Roma are also targeting Mason Greenwood, valued at €55m, to strengthen their squad for the 2025-26 Champions League campaign. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side aim to improve their squad rather than reduce it, with Champions League qualification secured for 2025-26. The Friedkin owners are reportedly preparing to discuss a deadline extension with UEFA officials. A potential compromise could involve limits on Roma’s 2026-27 signings or spending. Such conditions would complicate incoming deals but help retain key players like Kone, Ndicka, or Svilar. The club’s push for renegotiation reflects their ambition to balance compliance with squad-building ambitions ahead of their Champions League return.
