Stuttgart shock Flensburg with first win since March
TVB Stuttgart secured their first victory since early March, defeating SG Flensburg-Handewitt in a Champions League qualifier. The match marked Stuttgart’s first win in five attempts this year.
The German side dominated possession, outshooting Flensburg 32-24 with a 58% share. Stuttgart goalkeeper Tomáš Mrkva made 14 saves, including a crucial late stop to preserve the win.
Flensburg struggled with unforced errors, committing 20 turnovers compared to Stuttgart’s 12. Their attack managed just 22% shooting accuracy, while Stuttgart converted 28% of chances.
Stuttgart’s bench contributed three goals, with Lasse Andersson and Magnus Saugstrup each scoring twice. The duo combined for 11 saves in the match.
Flensburg’s defeat leaves them precariously placed in the qualifier standings. Stuttgart’s next fixture is against Aalborg Håndbold in the group stage.
