Torino to appoint Ignazio Abate as head coach
Torino have reached an agreement in principle to appoint Ignazio Abate as head coach on a two‑year contract that runs until 2028.
Fabrizio Romano reported the decision after a meeting between sporting director Gianluca Petrachi and club president Urbano Cairo on Monday.
Abate overcame competition from Ivan Juric, Eusebio Di Francesco and Alberto Gilardino for the role.
The 39‑year‑old former AC Milan defender made over 200 appearances for Milan and won multiple Serie A titles.
He guided Juve Stabia to a seventh‑place finish in Serie B last season.
Abate will inherit a Torino side that finished 12th last season and will aim for a more consistent campaign in 2026/27.
