Super Falcons need Egypt win to stay alive in WAFCON Group C

The Super Falcons’ upbeat push hinges on a victory to Beat Egypt, a win that would lock Nigeria into the knockout stage of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Group C. With the group still wide open, the result will also keep their title defence alive.

The defending champions began the tournament with a shock 3-2 loss to debutants Malawi, leaving their quarter‑final hopes in jeopardy. That opening defeat highlighted the need for a swift response.

Nigeria answered the setback with a hard‑earned 1-0 win over Zambia's Copper Queens, reviving their hopes of advancing. The narrow victory restored belief in the squad’s resilience and set up a decisive final group match.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie said, "We have to score goals against Egypt, it won’t be easy as the group is still very wide open and we don’t know what Zambia and Malawi will play." Her comment underscored the uncertainty still facing the team.

China‑based striker Folashade Ijamilusi added, "We need all three points and goals against Egypt." Ijamilusi’s statement reinforced the collective ambition for a non‑negotiable positive result.

Justine Madugu's side will now Take on the Cleopatras on Wednesday, knowing a positive result will secure their place in the knockout stage. The upcoming clash is the last hurdle in Group C, and a win will guarantee Nigeria’s continuation in the tournament.
