Tottenham eye €60m strike boost as Balogun gives green Lights
Tottenham Hotspur have been given the green Lights to sign former Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun, addressing their lack of a proven striker after a summer focused on defence and midfield. Reports say the North London club will need to meet a €60 million (£51.2 million) fee to complete the move.
Roberto De Zerbi has already spent heavily on new recruits, with Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke accounting for much of the £237 million outlay. Yet no forward has been added, leaving a clear gap in the attacking line‑up.
Balogun's record and price
The Monaco striker has scored 24 goals in 72 league appearances and added three goals in five games as the USMNT reached the World Cup Round of 16. His versatility has been praised by teammate Weston McKennie, who said, “Obviously he’s a striker who’s very versatile. He can hurt you on the dribble, hurt you in behind, he’s a clinical finisher.”
Born in London but representing the United States, Balogun chose the USMNT because he was born Stateside. His World Cup form has raised his profile, and Tottenham hope to translate that impact to the Premier League.
Deal progress and hurdles
Tottenham are said to be prioritising a winger this window, but the club remains ready to add a striker if the right deal emerges or if they can reshuffle current frontmen. The €60 million price tag, equivalent to £51.2 million, reflects Balogun’s recent performances and market value.

No official offer has been announced yet, but Footmercato journalist Santi Aouna reported that discussions are progressing between the parties. Tottenham will need to finalise personal terms and secure the €60 million fee before the transfer can be confirmed.
