Anderlecht parts ways with Bram Geers after one season

Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht has terminated the collaboration with Performance Director Bram Geers after just one season. The decision follows an operational review led by new Sporting Director Antoine Sibierski, who took office this summer.

Geers, currently part of the German national team’s staff at the FIFA World Cup, had returned to Anderlecht in October 2023 at the request of CEO Sports Tim Borguet. His role as Performance Director involved overseeing the physical development and medical care of the players.

The termination was confirmed after a meeting between Geers and Sibierski, with immediate effect. Anderlecht has moved to strengthen its technical staff, adding four new assistants under head coach Vítor Bruno, including Pedro Oliveira as an additional physical coach.

Between 2017 and 2022, Geers previously served Anderlecht as Physical Coach before departing for Burnley alongside Vincent Kompany in 2022. He later joined Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga before choosing to return to Anderlecht to be closer to home.

Currently in North America for the World Cup, Geers serves as a fitness coach under German head coach Julian Nagelsmann, working across venues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

New Anderlecht head coach Vítor Bruno has already expressed optimism about the squad’s future, stating: “I am counting on Nathan De Cat.”
