Atalanta pursue Nicolò Savona from Nottingham Forest

Atalanta have opened direct talks with Nottingham Forest over a deal for Nicolò Savona, a move that could trigger a chain reaction in Serie A transfers. Nottingham Forest signed Savona permanently last summer for €13 million plus €2.5 million in bonuses. Cristiano Giuntoli, Atalanta sporting director, previously worked with Savona at Juventus and is pushing for his return. The reunion would help incoming head coach Maurizio Sarri build his squad for next season. The potential Savona deal could also free up funds and positional cover for Atalanta to sell Marco Palestra. Inter Milan have agreed personal terms with Palestra on a five-year contract worth around €2 million per season. Atalanta are currently holding firm on a €50 million valuation for Palestra, having rejected an initial offer of €45 million. Manchester City remain interested, with manager Enzo Maresca a known admirer of Palestra’s profile. Negotiations between Atalanta and Nottingham Forest are ongoing, with no agreement yet in place. The outcome of these talks will determine whether the broader transfer chain involving Palestra proceeds. Savona, who plays as a right-back, joined Nottingham Forest from Juventus in 2024. His potential return to Serie A would mark a reunion with Giuntoli and Sarri.
