Celtic negotiate €1.5m permanent deal for Marcelo Saracchi

Celtic have opened negotiations with Argentine side Boca Juniors to secure the permanent transfer of Uruguayan full‑back Marcelo Saracchi for a fee of €1.5 million, according to journalist Josh McCafferty. The talks centre on ending the player’s loan spell and providing long‑term stability.

During the previous season Saracchi was on loan at Celtic, appearing in 27 league matches. He contributed one goal and two assists before a hamstring injury curtailed his progress.

Saracchi has insisted on a long‑term contract, rejecting the option of another short‑term loan. He wants stability at this stage of his career.

Boca Juniors have set a fixed €1.5 million price for a permanent transfer. The Argentine club has ruled out any further loan arrangement.

Manager Martin O’Neill has identified the left‑back position as a pressing need. He noted that Kieran Tierney cannot shoulder the defensive responsibilities alone.

The 28‑year‑old has previously logged 27 appearances for Galatasaray in the Turkish Süper Lig and featured in domestic fixtures for Boca Juniors. His formative years were spent at River Plate and RB Leipzig, giving him experience under pressure.
