Gary Neville says Harry Kane will break Shearer record
Gary Neville predicts Harry Kane will become England’s and Premier League’s all‑time leading scorer. Neville made the comment on the Rio Ferdinand Presents programme.
Kane, the 32‑year‑old Bayern Munich striker, has won the European Golden Shoe in each of the past two seasons. He is England’s top scorer with 75 goals, placing him tenth on the list of most‑capped international scorers. In the Premier League he sits second with 213 goals, 47 shy of Alan Shearer’s record.
Kane’s contract with Bayern runs for one more year, leaving his future uncertain. Age and salary could complicate a possible return to England, although his track record suggests suitors would be interested.
The former Tottenham forward now focuses on helping England win this summer’s World Cup. He entered the tournament after scoring ten goals in his previous ten matches. He has eight World Cup goals in 11 games, including the 2018 Golden Boot. Thomas Tuchel’s side will need broader squad support for success.
