Givairo Read Calls Manchester City Interest a Compliment

Givairo Read said the reported interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich is a compliment but he is not concentrating on it now. Read is contracted to Feyenoord until 2029, and the Dutch club aim for a club‑record sale exceeding €32 million. Feyenoord head coach Robin van Persie publicly backed Read for a move to an elite club, describing the defender as ready to take the next step. Van Persie also highlighted Read’s mental stability, noting he remains the same player as three years ago. Director of football Hugo Viana is looking to solve the right‑back vacancy ahead of Enzo Maresca’s first season in charge. Manchester City’s need for a specialist right‑back has been a summer priority, with Matheus Nunes having deputised last season and the pursuit of Pedro Porro ending after Tottenham secured the defender on a new deal. City remain frontrunners for Read’s signature, while Bayern Munich also monitor the 20‑year‑old. Read said any opportunity would be discussed with his family and agent.
