Jacquet's Instagram clip fuels optimism for Liverpool's pre‑season
Jeremy Jacquet is expected to report to Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre around July 13, offering fans a hopeful sign that the French defender could be ready for the start of pre‑season. The update follows an Instagram video showing Jacquet moving freely in individual training, suggesting the left‑shoulder injury that sidelined him at Rennes is nearing resolution.
Liverpool’s preparations for the new season will not begin with a full squad, as manager Andoni Iraola must balance returning internationals with players still involved in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nevertheless, the club’s optimism grows around Jacquet, one of the newest defensive signings, whose fitness could be confirmed from day one.
Jacquet suffered a left shoulder injury on 7 February while representing Rennes against Lens, an incident that required surgery. At the time, doubts were voiced about his ability to recover in time for Liverpool’s pre‑season schedule.
In the shared clip, Jacquet appears sharp, mobile and physically confident, with no obvious signs of discomfort. The short video stops short of an official medical report but provides visual evidence that the shoulder problem is not limiting his movement.
Several Liverpool players will remain at the 2026 World Cup into the round of 16 starting 4 July, and are expected to enjoy roughly three weeks of holiday afterwards. Consequently, they may miss early pre‑season sessions and parts of Liverpool’s U.S. tour, which includes matches against Sunderland on 25 July, Wrexham on 29 July and Leeds United on 2 August, before friendlies against Monaco on 9 August and Como on 16 August back in England.
Having Jacquet available from the opening day would give him extra training time to absorb tactical instructions and build chemistry with teammates. Early integration is crucial for a young defender aiming to make a positive impression in his first summer at the club.
Liverpool’s medical staff will continue to evaluate his condition before clearing him for full training. Current indications point to the final stages of rehabilitation, a welcome development for supporters eager to see the defender contribute soon.
