A long-term renewal offer is already on the table, with contract talks progressing well. Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti reported Gvardiol remains open to a new challenge but is settled in Manchester and at City. The defender’s future has been a major summer transfer talking point. According to Sam Lee of The Athletic, Gvardiol will likely extend his stay due to his comfort in the city and at the Etihad Stadium. Incoming manager Enzo Maresca has made the defender’s role central to his 2026-27 defensive plans. Gvardiol broke his silence last week, stating he was happy at City and would assess his situation after the FIFA World Cup with Croatia. The latest update suggests his assessment has favored the club. City had tabled a lucrative offer earlier this year to make Gvardiol one of the highest-paid players at the Etihad. Ruben Dias is also understood to be staying, preserving City’s defensive core under Maresca.
