Liverpool Rejects Juventus Bid for Alisson, Comolli Surprised
Liverpool have firmly decided to keep Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, a move that has left Juventus chief executive Damien Comolli surprised. The Premier League champions showed no appetite for a transfer despite ongoing speculation.
Juventus had identified Alisson as their preferred target as they look to reshape their squad ahead of the new season. The Italian giants saw the former Serie A star as an ideal candidate for the number‑one role.
Liverpool’s refusal to enter negotiations delivered an emphatic rejection to Juventus. Comolli had expected a more receptive stance from the Premier League champions.
Alisson is regarded as one of the world’s most respected goalkeepers with extensive experience at the highest level of European football. His previous success in Serie A reinforced Juventus’ interest.
Liverpool intend to retain Alisson for another season, underscoring the value they place on him. He featured 35 times last season and recorded 13 clean sheets, matching his appearance and clean‑sheet tally from the campaign when Liverpool won the Premier League title.
With the Alisson move blocked, Juventus have turned their attention to Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as a serious alternative. The club cannot afford to spend the entire summer pursuing a player who appears unavailable.
Comolli now faces a decision to either monitor Liverpool’s position or accelerate negotiations elsewhere. Liverpool’s confidence in Alisson remains strong, and the club has sent a clear message that the Brazilian is not currently for sale.
