Manchester City prepares third bid for Elliot Anderson

Manchester City are preparing a third formal offer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Personal terms have already been agreed between Anderson and the club. The move would set a new British transfer record.

The club’s second proposal, valued at £106 million plus £15 million in bonuses, was rejected by Nottingham Forest earlier this month. Owner Evangelos Marinakis is holding out for a total package around £130 million and has insisted on at least £110 million upfront. Marinakis has overseen the talks personally, keeping Forest manager Vitor Pereira out of the finer details.

Anderson’s position on a move to the Etihad Stadium has remained firm. He has been granted permission by Thomas Tuchel to undergo a medical during England’s FIFA World Cup preparations once the deal is finalised. The agreement on personal terms removes a major hurdle for the transfer.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that City are ready to push the negotiations forward again. The update suggests the financial impasse that threatened to delay a formal agreement into July may be closer to resolution. Romano did not specify whether Nottingham Forest have softened their valuation or if City have moved nearer to Marinakis’ figure.

Incoming manager Enzo Maresca is eager to have his primary midfield target in place before the squad reports for pre‑season and the club’s Asian summer tour. Manchester United have already withdrawn from the race for Anderson, leaving City without direct competition. Other Premier League clubs continue to monitor the fee for its wider market impact.
