Real Madrid enquire about Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie
Real Madrid have lodged an enquiry for Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie as the club targets another central defender. The move follows the signing of Ibrahima Konate and is part of manager Jose Mourinho’s plan to bolster the squad. Hincapie, an Ecuador international, has been identified as a priority target due to his left-footed profile and versatility in defence.
The enquiry comes amid Real Madrid are prioritising exits before further arrivals. David Alaba’s departure has freed up space, but Mourinho retains five centre-backs: Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Dean Huijsen, Raul Asencio and Konate. The club’s focus on squad reduction was reinforced by recent additions including Konate, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries.

Hincapie’s potential transfer would not be straightforward. Arsenal completed his permanent signing from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal exceeding €50 million. The defender played a key role in Arsenal’s Premier League-winning campaign, contributing at both centre-back and left-back under Mikel Arteta. Real Madrid are also monitoring Manchester City’s Ruben Dias and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni as alternative options. However, the club’s next moves remain contingent on outgoing transfers, with Asencio among those flagged for possible exits.
