Munoz, a member of the Spain World Cup squad, said he sought regular playing time and identified Newcastle United as the best fit; Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona had also shown interest. His agent Juanma Lopez confirmed that Munoz rejected a move to Barcelona to avoid conflict with Real Madrid.
