West Ham United sign Swiss defender Nadine Riesen on three-year deal

West Ham United have secured Swiss international full‑back Nadine Riesen on a free transfer, signing her to a three‑year contract after her contract with German Frauen‑Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt expired. The 26‑year‑old joins the East London club in the Women's Super League this afternoon.

The club announced the signing via an official press release issued this afternoon.

Riesen began her career in Switzerland with FC St. Gallen, BSC Young Boys and FC Zürich, winning two Swiss league titles and a domestic cup during her time there. Those early successes highlighted her development as a defender.

She moved to German club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, playing in the Google Pixel Frauen‑Bundesliga before her contract ran out. The transfer to West Ham United follows that stint.

Internationally, Riesen has earned 42 caps for Switzerland and scored two goals. Her experience adds depth to the national side.

Riesen said, “When I heard about West Ham’s interest in me, I was super‑excited. It’s a huge Club with a proud history and I’m very happy to be here. I spoke with Seraina Piubel and she was really positive about the Club. It already feels like a family here and everyone has given me such a warm welcome since I arrived.” She added, “The Women’s Super League is one of the best leagues in the world so this is a massive opportunity for me to continue my development in a new environment, challenge myself and keep doing what I love most – playing football. I really like Rita Guarino’s ambition for the team.”

Riesen is West Ham United’s fourth signing of the summer.
