€50m price tag fuels Atletico Madrid’s chase for Mason Greenwood

🇪🇸

Olympique de Marseille have set a €50 million price on 24‑year‑old forward Mason Greenwood, prompting Atletico Madrid to enter the race for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window. The English striker, who has spent two full seasons at the Ligue 1 club, is expected to leave Marseille this summer.

Greenwood, a former Manchester United forward, has already returned the keys to his house in Aix, signalling his readiness to depart. His two‑year spell at Olympique de Marseille has seen him become a focal point of the club’s attacking plans.

Despite interest from Saudi clubs, Greenwood has publicly ruled out a move to the kingdom. He has turned down approaches, preferring to stay in Europe.

Greenwood holds an agreement with Turkish side Fenerbahce, yet the club has yet to secure a deal with Marseille. Italian Serie A side AS Roma are also reported to be keen on signing the Englishman.

Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid’s manager, is reported to be especially eager to acquire Greenwood if Barcelona‑linked Julian Alvarez departs the club this summer. The La Liga side is expected to submit a formal offer soon. The €50 million valuation underscores the high demand for English forwards across Europe. With clubs from Turkey, Italy and Spain all vying for his services, Greenwood’s transfer window is set to become a focal point of the summer market. The story was compiled by Luke Entwistle.
