Ajax's chase for Bayern winger Zaragoza hits €6m salary wall
In a Spanish rumor circulating today, Ajax head coach Míchel has reportedly reached out to Bayern Munich winger Bryan Zaragoza, a 24‑year‑old on a contract that runs to summer 2029, to persuade him to join the Dutch side, but Zaragoza’s €6 million‑a‑year salary looms as a major obstacle.
BeSoccer reported that Míchel placed a phone call a few weeks ago to discuss a possible transfer to the Eredivisie. Zaragoza spent the previous season on loan at Celta de Vigo and AS Roma, gaining experience in Spain and Italy. The Spanish coach’s outreach signals Ajax’s interest in the winger.
His contract with Bayern Munich runs until the summer of 2029, yet playing time in Munich looks unlikely for the coming season. Consequently, a loan move emerges as the primary option for both clubs. Besides Ajax, Zaragoza’s name has also been linked with promoted side Malaga.
Celta de Vigo eyes PSV's Driouech while Veerman and Junior linger
The 24‑year‑old winger is currently on holiday and has not yet decided his destination for the next campaign. Earning roughly €6 million per year in Munich, his salary represents the biggest hurdle for potential suitors. Bayern are reportedly unwilling to shoulder that wage bill. Zaragoza’s recent loan spells include a 2024/25 stint at Osasuna, where he recorded one goal and six assists across 27 appearances. At Celta de Vigo he contributed one goal and one assist in 19 matches. His latest loan in Rome proved less fruitful, featuring four fewer matches than his previous assignments. He has already featured seven times for Bayern Munich, having signed after an impressive spell at Granada. Those appearances underline his limited role at the German club, reinforcing the appeal of a temporary move.
